Portable refractometer
With 1 to 2 drops of the test liquid, the portable refractometer determines the ice flake point of water-propylene glycol, water-ethylene glycol and water-ethanol mixtures and the refractive index of any liquids.
Measuring ranges:
- Propylene glycol: 0 to - 45 ° C
- Ethylene glycol: 0 to - 45 ° C
- Ethanol: 0 to - 42 ° C
- nD20 refractive index: 1.333 - 1.400
You receive:
- Portable refractometer with light function
- Screwdriver to adjust the 0-line
- Pipette for removing heat transfer medium
- Foamed-in PVC box
The ice flake point (cloud point):
An antifreeze mixture will not suddenly freeze at a certain temperature when it cools down to the freezing point, but the process of freezing is a continuous one. H. the mixture forms the first ice crystals at a certain temperature (= ice flake point, cloud point)and an increasingly viscous mass then develops, which is then completely frozen at a correspondingly lower temperature (= pour point, pour point).
The cold protection point (frost point) used in most refractometers is in the area where the antifreeze liquid is already a viscous mass (plumpable ice slurry) and is therefore no longer suitable for applications in solar or heat pumps.
